Recovery and Hope

The Harford County, Maryland community came out in full force last weekend for our Basket Bingo Recovery Night! Held at a local fire hall, our event was sold out due to families and friends gathering to celebrate loved ones in recovery from substance abuse. Area businesses donated items for Rage to use as prizes and we cannot thank them enough for their generosity in helping make our big night a success. There were restaurant and salon gift cards; admission passes and tickets to the movies, ice skating, and a golf course; a toolbox filled to the brim with tools; and miscellaneous items such as candles, coffee, yoga equipment, and even Rage gear. A majority of attendees even purchased and donated items from our Wish List; these contributions will certainly be put to good use at our three sober living houses! Food and non-alcoholic drinks were available for purchase, and there was even a surprise appearance by Baltimore’s own morning traffic reporter, Kristy Breslin! It was a wonderful evening filled with a lot of laughter and even more love.

At Rage, we believe in recovery; our Daughter’s House program is a true testament to that belief as we help women achieve, maintain, and enhance their own recovery journey. This is our biggest program, and we cannot help others without the kindness of our community members. We are sincerely very grateful to those who donate to and attend our events. It takes a village to spread awareness and raise hope for our loved ones who may still be struggling. Addiction is a family disease; it takes down everyone in its path, but healing is also for the family, and what better way to heal than to come together to celebrate all things recovery?

Recovery Month is packed with local and national events that shine the light on those who are doing the recovery thing, and we get to do a big shout out to all the community-based organizations that are the boots on the ground by making services available to those in need! Thank you to all the mission-driven people that dedicate their time with a sense of purpose and that have a heart for helping those who struggle. We understand that nonprofits are born out of a need in the community that is not currently being met. Your support is what keeps recovery alive and thriving.
